Belvédère museum
The Belvédère museum (Heerenveen-Oranjewoud) is located 22 kilometers from the hotel. The architecture of the museum alone is worth a visit. This beautiful, elongated building with a view to the nature reserve behind it is very impressive and has also been awarded the BNA architecture prize.
Abstract and figurative nature experiences
Museum Belvédère is located on the edge of the wooded Oranjewoud. The collections focus on painting and artistic experiences of nature that are both abstract and figurative. The artists who exhibit their collections here often come from Friesland or the Northern Netherlands.

Walking route with stories about “Aunt Marijke”
A park is located at the back of the museum, which you can enjoy walking through. Highly recommended is the more than 7.5 km long “experience route” through this area. Through an app on your phone, you can learn more about the area through mini-documentaries, podcasts and games. The “experience” walking route behind Museum Belvédère is about “Tante Marijke”, in other words, about the life of Maria Louise van Hessen-Kassel. While you walk Jort Kelder takes you through the life of this princess.
